We all know fields, but what exactly is a field within AgroSense?
Technically a field is a polygon with a location. It is bounded by natural and human borders (roads, trenches, et cetera). Fieldproperties are:
A field forms the basis for a cropfield. A cropfield is (part of) a field, where a crop is grown.
A field in AgroSense is merely a reference. They are used to create the actual objects that you work with (e.g. cropfields). Once fields are imported, they are static references. It's always possible to add fields (if you buy or rent extra land), or to end the validity (if you sell it). The common description of a field is 'a piece of ground, surrounded by natural boundaries (such as roads, water, et cetera).
Cropfields can be created out of Fields. Cropfields always carry a reference to the Field they originated from. The main difference between a Cropfield and a Field is the link to a Crop and a Production Unit. Cropfields exist for short periods of time, with a certain Crop, in the context of a certain Production Unit. Cropfields can also be a smaller part of a Field. More about that is explained here.
