New field

Manually creating a field is the way to go if you do not have a shapefile containing your fields.

Creating a field

Step 1: create (empty) field

Right-click the field-node in your farm and select 'new field'. A wizard pops up that allows you to enter details about the new field (a name, a validity and soil-type). After confirming the details in the summary-screen the new field will appear in the explorer.

Step 2: draw the field

The field you just created is still only an administrative unit. It has no location, boundaries and area. To create these just drag the field to the map. AgroSense will recognise the lack of area-information, and switches the map to edit-mode. In edit mode you can draw dots on the map, that are converted to corners of the field. Just try it, and see what happens. If you make a mistake just click the 'remove the last point' button on the right. If you want to start over just choose 'remove all points'.

This is what you do if the location where the next point should be isn't on the map: switch the map back to navigation-mode (by clicking the 'navigate' button on the right). Navigate the map so it displays the correct area, and return to edit-mode by clicking the 'add points' button.

Now add points until the preview area is correct. There is no need to close the polygon. AgroSense will do that automatically. Once you are completely satisfied with the field just hit the 'save' button, and you have made a field.
